I’m Rachel, wedding stationery designer and owner of Paper Arrow Press

Rachel Russell Designer at Paper Arrow Press

When I'm not busy designing modern wedding invitations for Paper Arrow Press you can find me hanging out with my family, cooking, sipping on a gin & tonic, and enjoying the odd disaster film (the bit where the birds all fly away from the source of danger gets me every time).

When I married Ben in 2011 we were fresh back from a year living in Rome and I was launching a freelance graphic design career. We were pretty penniless (having spent all our money on pizza and gelato) and so it was the obvious choice to design our own wedding stationery designs. Soon afterwards, friends began to ask me to design their wedding invites too. Lots of people said they hadn’t been able to find the kind of clean, modern wedding stationery design that I was offering. Before long I decided to set up my own wedding stationery design business. In April 2012, Paper Arrow Press was launched!

Non-weddingy wedding stationery

I like a good wedding as much as the next person but here's an admission; I'm not obsessed by all things wedding. Instead I'm inspired by the world outside weddings (remember that?). From interior design to travel, I offer modern, personalised wedding invitation designs for design-conscious couples who have the vision but maybe not the time or skills to create the wedding stationery that perfectly styles their wedding. As well as personalised wedding invites and stationery, we can help you announce other major life events like moving house or having a baby. Ben and I have survived both of them. We moved from London to Edinburgh in 2013, and in 2014 our gorgeous, hilarious daughter was born.

Ditch the clichés

The old wedding clichés of bossy brideszillas and lazy grooms just don't apply any more. The brides I’ve met since starting Paper Arrow Press have been lovely, chilled out women. And I regularly work with grooms-to-be on their wedding stationery. I love creating modern wedding invite designs you’ll both agree on with the minimum of stress (free of ribbons and frills). The process is creative, collaborative (if you want it to be) and will leave you excited to send out your finished invitations.

Wedding planning can be stressful

When wedmin gets stressy I think you need three things:

  • stylish invitation designs that you both love
  • a quick, friendly response to your questions
  • a supplier who has taken time to get to know you and what you're looking for
